Third and Party

There are many reasons why I love my friends. One of my favorites is because of football. Like me, many of my closest friends love football too. Not in the “I watch it for my husband” type of way, but because we truly and deeply LOVE to watch the game. And no! It has nothing to do with the uniforms!
We root for our teams with an intensity that makes our fellow football loving husbands proud. We are devoted to our teams! We know our teams! We want them to win EVERY GAME!
There’s Rae and the Steelers. Michele and the Cowboys. Shane and the Bears. Dorey and the Giants. And me and the Jets.
Not one of us root for the same team. But our love of the game links us all. In fact, it is a testament to true friendship that Rae and I are still speaking. Last year’s AFC playoff game pitting the Jets versus the Steelers could have been a real game changer. But we watched together, each wearing our respective jerseys and agreed to disagree. There are few things that trump a Sunday afternoon of football, but friendship, our friendship, is one of them.

Jeff, Rae, and Me when we still had reason to smile!

Last weekend the playoffs started. Only two of us (Rae and Dorey) had a team with eyes still locked on the Super Bowl. So what does that mean? Time to party of course!! And really, what better excuse to sabotage your New Years diet/weight loss/be healthier goals than a football party with Buffalo Wings and Miller Lite?
Now, thanks to Mr. Beautiful #15 a.k.a. Tim Tebow, only Dorey's Giants are still suiting up. That too is ok! Because there’s still a lot of pizza to eat and Super Bowl squares to buy. As for me, I’m placing my money on Da Saints.

Raising a new generation of football fans!
